How to save workouts from Instagram and TikTok
By Cayden and Eden, Recola's founders. Updated .
To save a workout on Instagram or TikTok, tap the bookmark. At the gym, though, you are scrubbing through a reel to remember the third exercise and how many reps.
Recola writes the workout out. Share the post to Recola and it lists the exercises with their sets and reps, so you can follow it without the video.
The free way: bookmark and screenshot
It costs nothing.
Bookmark the post
Tap the bookmark so it is in your saves or favorites.
Screenshot the moves
Pause on each exercise and take a screenshot, or copy the caption into a note.
It works, but the workout lives in a pile of screenshots, and the saves you meant to try sink out of sight.
With Recola: the reel becomes a session
Recola is an iPhone app for everything you save.
Share the post
On Instagram, tap the paper plane, then Share to. On TikTok, tap the Share arrow, then More.
Pick Recola
In the iPhone share sheet, tap Recola, or Save to Recola in the list under the apps. The first time, you may need to tap More to find it. After that it stays in reach.
Tap Done and keep scrolling
Recola confirms the save in about a second. It reads the video while you carry on, and lets you know when it has been filed.
Train from it
Open Workouts. A post with several moves is one session, with each exercise, its sets and reps, and how long it takes.

What you get back
- Each exercise written out, with sets and reps. Anything the video doesn't state is estimated and marked.
- A post with several moves kept together as one session.
- Workouts you haven't tried brought back with a gentle reminder.
- Plan your week: add a workout to this week and tick it off when it is done.
