This Privacy Policy explains how Recola Pty Ltd (“Recola”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information when you use the Recola mobile application and this website (together, the “Service”). We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. Information we collect
- Account information — your email address and authentication details when you create an account.
- Content you save — the links to videos and posts you share into Recola, and the information we extract from them (such as recipes, places, exercises, and film/show titles).
- Usage information — how you interact with the Service, device and app diagnostics, and log data used to operate and improve the product.
- Subscription information — purchase and subscription status. Payments are processed by Apple and our payments provider; we do not collect or store your card details.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the Service — saving your content and organizing it into searchable tiles.
- To process the videos you save using automated analysis in order to extract the relevant information.
- To operate, secure, maintain and improve the Service.
- To manage your subscription and provide customer support.
- To communicate with you about the Service, including important notices.
3. Third-party services
We use trusted third parties to run the Service, who process information on our behalf or as part of delivering their service:
- Supabase — secure database and storage hosting.
- Google (Gemini API) — automated analysis of the content you save to extract structured information.
- RevenueCat and Apple — subscription management and payment processing.
These providers are bound by their own privacy and security obligations and only receive the information needed to perform their function.
4. How we store and protect your information
Your information is stored on secure third-party infrastructure and protected with industry-standard measures including encryption in transit and access controls. While no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.
5. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may delete your saved content or your account at any time, after which we will delete or de-identify your personal information unless we are required to retain it by law.
6. Your rights
You may access, correct or delete your personal information, and you may delete your account from within the app. To make a request or raise a privacy concern, contact us at privacy@recola.app. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
7. Children
Recola is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. International users
Recola is operated from Australia. If you access the Service from outside Australia, your information may be processed in Australia and in other countries where our service providers operate.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
